Trescal UK, a global leader in calibration services, is using Podfather logistics software to enhance customer service, reduce its environmental impact and increase the efficiency of its collection and delivery operation. Replacing a largely paper managed process, the Podfather solution offers a range of automated functionality including planning and optimisation tools, vehicle checks, and electronic Proof of Delivery capture. These features will support Trescal’s ESG objectives and contribute to its continued growth, which in 2024 saw the acquisition of 15 companies representing €65M in sales and 750 employees.

“Our brand comes from the understanding that the productivity of our clients depends on the reliability of their assets,” commented Lee Grint, Head of Logistics at Trescal UK. “And, with the selection and use of Podfather to manage our collection and delivery operation, that is something we are now applying to our own processes.

“Prior to Podfather we relied heavily on paper schedules and job sheets. We were also dependent, to an extent, on the knowledge and experience of our drivers,” he continued. “While we still value the strengths our drivers bring, we know that by employing Podfather’s planning and optimisation tools we can maximise driver efficiency whilst still delivering exceptional service.

“We can also take some of the risk out of the mobile operation and give drivers the tools they need to focus on the task in hand and what they do best – driving and interacting with our customers.”

Trescal UK selected Podfather logistics software to introduce automation and eliminate paper from its UK collection and delivery service. Operating across England and Scotland, Trescal UK offers a single solution calibration service for a range of industries including aeronautical, automotive, defence, food and beverages, life sciences, and telecommunications. Trescal offers different levels of testing, from certification up to full UKAS accreditation, as well as comprehensive repair and maintenance options. With its own fleet of vans Trescal UK works on around 12,000 items a month, making up to 100 deliveries / collections a week.

“Replacing paper manifests and delivery notes with automated schedules, routes, and proof of delivery notes, is having a major impact on our operation,” Lee Grint added. “We are transitioning to 100% paperless, which not only reduces our environmental impact, it is also improving the speed and quality of service and reporting.

“Using Podfather our ultimate goal is to eliminate all unnecessary interactions, and, by giving our customers the information they want, when they want it, and how they want it, we can achieve this. We are already seeing benefit from using Podfather’s ePOD tools and this is being evidenced with fewer queries and faster invoicing.”

Trescal UK is part of the wider Trescal Group which operates in 30 countries, employs 5,000 people and has a turnover of €530 million. Trescal calibrates 3.3 million instruments per year, 98% of which is in-house, covering 20,000 brands and 150,000 referenced instruments, providing a full suite of precision services that includes repair, maintenance, asset management, validation, and qualification.
