Chamberlain Doors, the UK’s largest independent garage door distributor, is integrating Podfather logistics software with its Sage accounting system to reduce paperwork, improve efficiency and offer increased communication benefits for its customer base. Operating nationally across the UK, Chamberlain Doors is in the early stages of integrating Podfather to plan, track and capture electronic, real-time proof of delivery (POD) evidence. Integration with Sage is further streamlining the delivery operation, reducing the need to manually enter data and automating the flow of information between customer-facing staff and back-office support teams.

“Our late Director and founder Roy Chamberlain investigated the Podfather software in 2022 and the journey to fully integrate the software has involved a comprehensive review of all related systems,” commented Kelly Mitchell, Training Coordinator at Chamberlain Doors. “We offer each and every customer a bespoke solution based on their specific requirements. That means there are countless configurations of type of door, door finish and automation, and this makes our product portfolio - and therefore our supply chain and delivery operation - complex.

“We have, over the years, developed Sage to support our specific needs and it was important that Podfather could do the same and integrate with existing systems and workflows,” she continued. “The Podfather team has been with us every step of this journey, responding to requests, working with us to understand our requirements, and configuring the system to meet our way of working, even when it wasn’t straightforward and bespoke thought processes were required.”

Still in the early stages of using Podfather, Chamberlain Doors is already realising tangible benefits. Drivers are guided through a series of daily vehicle checks using the Podfather App to ensure vehicles are roadworthy, well maintained and drivers are ready for the day ahead. Routes are planned and optimised, taking into account specific time windows, customer constraints and vehicle capacities, and deliveries can be tracked, in real-time, without waiting for paperwork to be returned.

Chamberlain Doors is also utilising Podfather to capture electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) evidence, including date, time and location stamped photographs and signatures. This is critical information when answering customer queries and is an integral part of Chamberlain’s commitment to first-class customer service, an ethos instilled by founder Roy Chamberlain.

“We have built our reputation on providing an honest, value for money and quality-based service, which never loses sight of the importance of the customer, and this remains our driving force today,” Mitchell concluded. “Podfather is already helping us deliver on this promise, and, as we move forward with additional features and functionality, supported by the team, it will continue to do so.”

Established in 1974, Chamberlain Doors has been offering excellent and uncompromising customer service to the construction industry for over 50 years. Operating from its purpose-built headquarters and showroom in Bolton, they are the only fully national specialist distributor and installer of the products they promote. Employing over seventy members of staff, the company has built its reputation on providing an honest, professional, value for money and quality-based service. Their clear strategy and long-term vision have allowed them to take on numerous successful new projects including Podfather to further enhance their provision.
