Overview

Calo is a healthy eating meal ordering app that creates and delivers personalised meal plans through nutritional algorithms. Having already established itself as a powerhouse in the Gulf region and acquiring brands such as Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen, the company launched in the UK in 2025.

Calo applies globally informed best practices while adapting to local quality and convenience expectations. Under its current operating model in the UK, they maintain a fleet of drivers executing thousands of deliveries every week within the M25 area.

Challenge

As Calo expanded into the UK market with high volumes of daily deliveries, they needed a system that could not only manage current logistics efficiently but also establish a robust framework for significant future growth.

  • They needed to organise a fleet managing thousands of daily deliveries while accounting for time windows, load capacities, and customer constraints.
  • The company required actionable, real-world data to make informed strategic decisions regarding scalability and nationwide rollouts.
  • They needed a configurable solution capable of adapting to the specific requirements and unique needs of different markets and locations.

Solution

National Logistics Manager Bart Rostek, leveraging his previous experience with Podfather, collaborated with the Podfather team to configure the logistics software to meet the specific requirements of the growing business. Calo implemented Podfather's route planning and optimisation features, which factor in time windows, customer constraints, and load capacities for thousands of deliveries a day.

Alongside routing, Calo rolled out standard features such as automated vehicle checks, real-time tracking, and notifications. They also heavily use the electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD) functionality to capture digital evidence, which includes date, time, and location-stamped photographs and signatures.

Results

The implementation of Podfather has enabled Calo to establish a highly organised and streamlined day-to-day operation, ensuring both operational and cost benefits. The ability to capture and share real-world, real-time metrics has driven efficiencies in their profit and loss margins.

Furthermore, Podfather's standard suite of performance dashboards, reporting tools, and customisable data exports provide Calo with the insights needed to analyse results and refine processes based on real-life data. This guarantees that their forward planning and strategic decision-making are completely data-driven, creating a delivery masterplan defined by accountability, repeatability, and scalability for nationwide and international expansion.

Using Podfather, we have the processes and data we need to create and report on a super-efficient, super-streamlined delivery operation that we can roll out across the UK and beyond. Podfather has been by our side at every step, ensuring both operational and cost benefits across the board, and I know the team at Podfather will continue to support us as we react and respond to the challenges of expansion and the requirements and needs of different markets and locations.
