Podfather launches new version of its route planning module
Podfather, the Edinburgh-based route management and proof of delivery software company has launched a new version of its route planning module. Well known for its work with some of the largest fleet operators in the UK, the Podfather solution simplifies the complex process of managing and optimising a vehicle fleet. Having first introduced an optimisation engine in 2013 the Podfather team has seen its route planning solution go from strength to strength. Now widely used across its customer base Podfather has just introduced several new enhancements designed to improve overall user experience. As a result of advanced development work Podfather is now rolling out its latest software offering across its logistics, field service and healthcare customer base as a free upgrade.
“Route optimisation technology has been around for many years but what makes our solution different is that it does so much more than just route planning,” comments Colin McCreadie, Managing Director at Podfather. “As our name suggests we’ve been offering an electronic proof of delivery or ePOD, solution for some time but, as our customers know, we deliver a complete package that gives users everything from order management, route planning and vehicle checks, through to driver tracking, customer notifications, invoicing and reporting tools.”
The most recent software update has focused on improving the user experience. Map displays have been enhanced and route visualisation improved to make the day to day task of managing jobs and allocating orders, much quicker and easier to carry out. These enhancements complement Podfather’s existing route planning functionality, which enables transport operators to automatically create cost effective and time efficient routes that meet customer time windows and access constraints, at the touch of a button.
Podfather began life in the year 2000 as a business software development house specialising in the design and delivery of bespoke warehouse and logistics solutions. The SaaS electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) solution that is at the heart of the business was launched in 2007 and, since its inception, has gone from strength to strength. Podfather has clients across a variety of sectors including logistics, construction, field service and healthcare and is relied upon by over 30,000 users every day.
Podfather’s growing customer base features industry heavyweights including Tarmac, United Utilities and Oxfam and a wide range of distribution and logistics companies including Bidfresh, Bako North Western, Berry Bros. & Rudd and Igloo Thermo Logistics. Podfather employs a team of 42 people, based in the company’s Edinburgh office. Podfather takes data security very seriously and is proud to be ISO27001 accredited, an approved UK Government G-Cloud framework supplier and owner of an Investors in People Silver award for its employee management and development standards.
