Carvers Building Supplies, the wholesale building materials supplier, has selected Podfather’s route planning and electronic proof of delivery solution to help streamline processes across its distribution operation. With a fleet of over 30 delivery vehicles distributing a wide range of products to customers around Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas, the Carvers Building Supplies team were looking for a solution to help improve efficiency and remove paper from the planning process. The introduction of the Podfather solution is part of Carver Builders Supplies company-wide push to update internal systems and improve efficiency across its business.

The Podfather solution will give Carvers Building Supplies the functionality it needs to streamline delivery planning processes. The Podfather cloud-based back-office system and easy-to-use driver app will enable the team at Carvers to optimise routes, capture vehicle defect checks, issue customer ETA notifications, track drivers and capture electronic proof of delivery without the need for paper tickets. By swapping from a manual process, to using Podfather, the Carvers Building Supplies team looks forward to eradicating paper, reducing planning admin, facilitating operational visibility across the business, and improving customer experience.

“We are delighted that Carvers Building Supplies has joined the growing list of companies using Podfather to plan and manage day-to-day operations in the building materials sector,” adds Colin McCreadie, Managing Director at Podfather. “Our core product gives users the breadth of functionality needed to improve efficiency, control costs, and improve service. We look forward to seeing this implementation roll out and the predicted benefits become a reality for Carvers.”

“Over the past few years, we at Carvers have been working to modernise our internal systems and we are now at a point where we can really add value to our investment” says Craig Whitlock, IT Manager at Carvers. “One thing I have been particularly passionate about is making us more efficient and modern across many parts of the business and Podfather stood out as a company that can really help us add this mantra to our Transport operations. They have been knocking at our door for some time but following a recent internal upgrade to a cloud placed ERP (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) we felt now was the right time to bring in their expertise and I’m excited to see what value they can bring to Carvers Building Supplies.”

Carvers and Podfather will now spend the next few weeks getting the systems integrated, users trained, and fleet kitted out before we announce a “Go Live” date, but we hope to have a gradual roll out in the very near future.
