Nine Elms in London is one of the largest urban regeneration schemes in the UK, bringing £15bn of improvements to 195 hectares in the city centre. BAM Nuttall was awarded the remediation contract for the former South London Mail Centre in Nine Elms in May 2015. This work includes site clearance, demolition of remaining facilities, removal of below ground structures, remediation of onsite soil and water treatment, and bulk earthworks.
PODFather has been used on a number of large BAM Nuttall projects in recent years; including Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Victoria Station Upgrades, Borders Railway.
Tracking construction materials
The project at Nine Elms involves excavation of 160,000 cu m, with 97% of fill material coming from the site excavation. Careful tracking of the material on the site is important for the remediation processes to be carried out efficiently.
Speaking in the Construction Manager magazine, BAM Nuttall Agent, Dominic Scholey explains the PODFather is being used on the project to track material movements around the site, giving a live update on which materials are being moved, where, and in what volumes, including details of hazardous materials.
