As our stand-alone People Person you’ll be a key member of our team reporting directly into the Board.

Our new People Person will work with the team to understand the needs, opportunities and limitations within our organisation and have the confidence, knowledge and skills to research and explore ideas, look at who we really are, what we do and make appropriate recommendations to the Senior Management Team.  In short you’ll have a fundamental part to play in developing and improving our employee wellbeing, development and shaping our company culture.

Profile

This is a role where you get to work collaboratively with everyone in the business; engineers, sales, business development, accounts, marketing and the senior team.  As the People Person you will take full responsibility for all people matters. This includes people projects, supporting change, HR advice, employee coaching, policies and staff wellbeing initiatives.

Our new People Person will work with the team to understand the needs, opportunities and limitations within our organisation and have the confidence, knowledge and skills to research and explore ideas, look at who we really are, what we do and make appropriate recommendations.

This role is a part time, working three days per week.  We can be flexible on which days are worked.  The role is based at our office at Gyle, Edinburgh.  Whilst flexible remote working is encouraged, some tasks will be better completed face-to-face in person, but we have a lovely office, plenty of parking and free snacks and drinks to keep you going during your day! The FTE salary range is £40,000 to £50,000, which equates to £24,000 to £30,000 for the three day per week position.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the PODFather team you will provide support and feedback in areas of performance management, management training and coaching, organisational development and employee relations. 
  • By participating fully in the operations of the organisation you will be able to quickly identify business needs; developing and presenting solutions to senior leaders to help drive results in the organisation.
  • You will take pride in developing and driving People policies and processes from start to finish that align with PODFather goals and values and continuously review to ensure they are legally compliant. 
  • Leading on wellbeing and working closely with management and team members to improve working relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention helping to make PODFather an employer of choice whilst ensuring we maintain our family, supportive, caring workplace culture.
  • Providing guidance and input on restructures, workforce planning and succession planning to support the business growth strategy.
  • Designing a Learning and Development Strategy to provide training and coaching to Managers. 
  • Partner with Managers in recruitment and onboarding.
  • Partner with Special Projects Manager to deliver, review, analyse and develop Staff Forum and Employee Engagement activities ensuring feedback and communications to develop feedback loops.
  • Where required, manage and resolve employee relations issues and support Managers in successful resolutions.
  • Review and report on trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.

Requirements

  • Experienced HR professional who is self motivated and confident to lead from a People perspective given the standalone nature of the role.
  • Relevant, progressive HR Manager/People Partner experience.
  • Breadth of generalist HR experience in a variety of HR disciplines .
  • Comfortable using technology, including Google Workspace, Slack and DropBox or similiar.
  • Effective and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with fine-tuned instincts and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with a broad range of People tasks, not afraid to “roll up your sleeves” to complete more tactical work. Able to switch between strategic and tactical work daily.
  • Experience and/or qualification in Management Coaching, Learning and Development. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree desirable, with HR Certification strongly preferred at CIPD level 7.  If you have great experience but have CIPD level 5 please apply.
