Our Journey

PODFather began life in 2000 as a business software developer, specialising in warehouse and logistics environments. The software-as-a-service, electronic proof of delivery (or ePOD) solution that is the heart of our business today was launched in 2007 and is designed to be easily integrated into existing software systems. Over the years, it has become one of the most feature rich and modular mobile workforce management solutions available.

We now have over 30,000 users, from big construction and logistics fleet operators through to relatively small independent hauliers and delivery companies.  We pride ourselves in developing and delivering advanced software solutions that really meet the needs of today’s forward-thinking fleet operators.  Our teams get to work on software solutions for some of the UK’s biggest construction and logistics projects.  Find out more about the customers we are working with.

Here are some highlights from our journey so far… we can’t wait to see what the future has in store.

PODFather team and what we do

2000: PODFather is born.

2007: We launch our first SaaS ePOD solution & the first customers sign up.

2007: We announce our partnership with Zebra Technologies to provide rugged hardware.

2009: Our construction solution is deployed on the M25 widening project & we announce partnerships with O2 & Honeywell.

2010: Oxfam selects us to manage its recycling services & we win our first big healthcare waste management contract.  We introduce driver tracking to our solution from the driver mobile app.

2011: We win a high-profile contract with the Energy Saving Trust, helping to insulate over 200,000 Scottish homes.

2012: Our team start work with Costain on a 32km power tunnel in London.

2013: Crossrail awards us a huge contract to work with them on logistics management & vehicle safety.

2014: We start to grow our team – growth that still continues to this day – and we are awarded G-cloud supplier status.

2016: We move to larger offices to accommodate our growing software development team & we win our first NHS customer.

2018: Tarmac commit to deploying PODFather across their national fleet of 1,800+ vehicles for their ePOD project.

2019: We move office again having outgrown our last move in just 2 years. PODFather is awarded ISO 27001 status – a huge achievement for the team, and proof of our exceptional security standards. PODFather is also voted Business of the Year at the Scottish Digital Business Awards.

2020: We are celebrating 20 years in business and reaching 30,000 users who rely on PODFather every day.

2021: We are recognised as being one of Scotland’s top 10 flexible employers in the Flexibility Works awards.
